Pergola removal in Southlake, with the patio in mind
Wood pergolas weather hard in North Texas sun and storms. When one has rotted, been replaced by a new design, or simply isn't wanted, the removal needs to respect what's around it — the patio, the pavers, the house wall it may be attached to.
What affects a pergola removal estimate?
Size, material, anchoring, house attachments and the route out determine the project quote. Show post bases and wall connections in photos. Anchor holes or marks can remain; patio or wall restoration should be arranged separately when needed.

Freestanding vs. attached
A freestanding pergola is anchored only to the ground — posts set in concrete, bolted to a slab, or anchored to footings under pavers. An attached pergola also connects to the house, usually with a ledger board fastened to the wall or fascia.
Attached structures take more care. We evaluate attachment points and access before confirming demolition scope, and we'll tell you up front if a connection to the roof or wall needs another trade to finish or repair.
What we look at before quoting
- Size, number of posts and overhead members
- Wood condition — sound, cracked, or rotted
- How posts are anchored: concrete, brackets, embedded posts
- Whether the structure ties into a roofline, fascia or wall
- Surfaces underneath — stamped concrete, pavers, stone, decking
- Lighting, fans or wiring on the structure
- Path to the truck and gate width
Protecting the surfaces that stay
Pergolas usually sit over a patio you want to keep. We lower members rather than dropping them, cover surfaces where pieces will land, and remove fasteners carefully. Even so, bracket bolts and post bases can leave holes or marks in concrete or pavers — we can't guarantee no cosmetic impact before seeing how the structure is anchored, and we'll explain what to expect.
Other light structures
The same approach applies to playsets, wood arbors, trampolines and some patio covers within our scope. Structures with roofing tied into the house, masonry columns or engineered steel are evaluated case by case.
Scope notes
- Electrical fixtures must be disconnected by a licensed electrician first.
- We don't provide structural engineering or repair of the house where a ledger was attached.
- Embedded concrete post footings are excluded unless included in your quote.
Questions about pergola removal
Will removing the pergola damage my patio?
We work to avoid it and protect surfaces throughout. Anchors and post bases may leave marks or holes; we'll look at how it's attached and set expectations before starting.
Can you remove a pergola attached to the house?
Often, yes. We'll review photos of the connection first. If the roofline or wall will need repair afterward, we'll tell you so you can line up the right contractor.
Are sheds, pergolas and hot tubs priced by truckload?
No. Structure removal is quoted as a project. Size, material, anchoring, demolition time, utilities, access and disposal determine the estimate. Concrete foundations are not automatically included.
Can I get an estimate from photos?
Yes. Text a wide photo of each space, close-ups of heavy or unusual items, and the path to the truck. Include your location and preferred timing. Larger estates and structural removals may need a walkthrough. The final price is confirmed before removal.
